Resolution Adopted by the CCAR

Resolution on CCAR Dues Equalization

Adopted by the CCAR at the 93rd Annual Convention of
the Central Conference of American Rabbis
New York City, June 27-July 1, 1982

The present schedule of CCAR dues is as follows:

Retired $10.00

Up to $5,999 .2%

$6,000-$7,999 .3%

$8,000-$9,999 .4%

$10,000-$11,999 $50.00 (.5%)

$12,000-$15,999 $75.00 (.625%)

$16,000-$19,999 $100.00 (.67%)

$20,000-$24,999 $150.00 (.75 % )

$25,000-$29,999 $200.00 (.8% )

$30,000-$39,999 $250.00 (.833 % )

Over $40,000 $300.00 (.75%)

From the above schedule it becomes apparent that although dues are intended to increase proportionally to income, that is not the outcome. Dues increase from .2 of 1% under $6,000 to .833 of l% at $30,000, and continually decrease thereafter.

The Conference never intended that the sliding scale place the heaviest burden on the middle-income rabbi earning $30,000 annually.

To correct this inequitable oversight the Conference moves the amendment of the existing dues schedule as follows:

$40,000-$49,999 $350.00 (.875 % )

$50,000-$59,999 $450.00 (.9%)

$60,000 and over Flat 1 % rate
