Resolution adopted by the Board of Trustees of the
Central Conference of American Rabbis, May 1999

Whereas, The World Union for Progressive Judaism and the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism have together agreed in principle to focus on developing the infrastructure of our Movement in Israel by supporting the construction of institutions there, and

WHEREAS, the joint building committee of the WUPJ and the IMPJ has endorsed this proposal and urged that the current projects deserving of support are the construction projects for Mevasseret Tzion and Raanana, and,

WHEREAS, land has been made available to these communities on condition that construction begin within a two-year period, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, that the CCAR call upon the membership of the Conference to support, sustain and solicit funds to help Mevasseret Tzion and Raanana in this timely effort. We urge our colleagues to link hands in dramatizing the priority of needs of these congregations and offering them our practical support as well as moral encouragement. In doing this, we partake in the mitzvah, Livnot Ul'hibanot.
