Resolution Adopted by the CCAR

New Jewish Fund for Hunger

Adopted by the CCAR at the 96th Annual Convention of
the Central Conference of American Rabbis
1985

Whereas our endeavor to create a Jewish fund to alleviate hunger in the United States and abroad was announced this past Pesach in Moment magazine, and

Whereas the funding for this effort is provided by a voluntary tax to be placed on the caterer's bill for Temple functions and Jewish life-cycle events;

Therefore be it resolved that the Central Conference of American Rabbis

a. commend Leonard Fein for this worthy endeavor,

b. support the effort in principle, and

c. instruct the Justice and Peace Committee of the CCAR and the Social Action Commission to recommend guidelines to our congregations for participation in this project.
