World Union for Progressive Judaism and Rabbi Danny Freelander

On behalf of the CCAR Board of Trustees and all of the members of the Central Conference of American Rabbis, we wish a heartfelt mazal tov to our friend, partner, colleague, and CCAR member, Rabbi Daniel Freelander, upon his election as President of the World Union for Progressive Judaism.  We also congratulate the WUPJ Leadership upon its superb choice of Rabbi Freelander.

As Danny assumes this vitally important leadership role, we know how superbly qualified he is to do so. Danny possesses an immense breadth and depth of experience, keen intelligence, superb interpersonal skills, and profound commitment to our Movement, as well as extraordinary integrity, warmth, and menschlikheit.

All of us at the CCAR look forward to partnering with Danny in his new role, as he seeks to bring the power and meaning of Progressive Judaism to the many Jews and Jewish communities throughout the world who hunger for what we offer.  We know that Danny will forge new ground in supporting not just the congregations of the WUPJ, but its rabbinic leadership as well.

We pray that God will sustain and guide Danny on this sacred journey and that he and Elyse will be blessed with boundless joy and satisfaction in the new chapter of their lives that is about to unfold.

L'Shalom Uv'rachah - In Peace and Blessing,
